Health Information Exchange Research Fellowship Awarded
The Kaiser Permanente Institute
for Health Policy (IHP), in partnership with UC
Berkeley’s Center for Health Research, has named Sun Ha
Lee as the 2007-2008 IHP/CHR Fellow. The $30,000 IHP/CHR Fellowship
was made possible through a grant funded by IHP.
A graduate of Swarthmore College (BA) and Villanova University (MA),
Sun Ha is currently a master's student in the UC Berkeley School
of Public Policy, working with Professor John Ellwood. Her background
includes experience in a variety of social services, policy, and
research management positions.
Sun Ha’s project will help identify key factors hindering
and helping electronic health information exchange. The goal of
this research is to identify the perceptions of key actors in health
care organizations about moving their "closed" electronic
health records systems toward electronic health information exchange
and interoperability with other systems. The project will seek to
glean insight on the major challenges and opportunities facing health
care providers as they consider health information exchange with
entities outside of their institutional boundaries.
