Roundtable: Improving Health Care ‘Systemness’: A
Look at the Evidence and Policy Implications
August 7, 2007, Washington, DC
Co-Sponsored by:
The Commonwealth Fund,
the Council of Accountable Physician
Practices, and the Kaiser Permanente Institute for Health Policy
Meeting Overview:
This roundtable convened public and private sector professionals
to discuss the policy options that are available to promote better
quality and efficiency through “systemness” –
both real and virtual.
Goals:
- To identify policy and purchaser interventions that would encourage
delivery system improvement through real and virtual organization;
- To determine which elements of groups and systems can and should
be adopted in the less-organized sector; and,
- To assess the new and rapidly growing body of research regarding
the quality and efficiency of physician groups and organized health
care delivery systems relative to the disaggregated, solo- and
small-group practice setting.
