Dr. Kolodny

Dr. Andrew Kolodny is Medical Director of the Opioid Policy Research Collaborative at Brandeis University’s Heller School. A psychiatrist specializing in opioid use disorder, he has spent two decades addressing the U.S. opioid crisis as a clinician, researcher, teacher, public health official, and advocate. Dr. Kolodny has advised both state and federal policymakers and has testified before the United Nations, the U.S. Congress, and as an expert witness in litigation against the opioid industry. He also served as a medical advisor for Hulu’s award-winning series Dopesick.

Earlier in his career, he served as Chief Medical Officer at Phoenix House, Chair of Psychiatry at Maimonides Medical Center in New York City, and as a medical director at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where he developed pioneering programs in buprenorphine treatment, naloxone distribution, and emergency room-based substance use disorder interventions.
