Keavney Klein serves as Senior Counsel in Kaiser Permanente’s Government Relations department, based in the Washington, DC office. As part of Kaiser Permanente’s health policy and advocacy team, Keavney focuses on Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D payment and coverage policy and works closely with KP’s Medicare business and functional leaders. Keavney also works across the Program on care delivery and benefits issues, including provider networks, telehealth, long-term care, quality reporting, and risk adjustment.
Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in 2012, Keavney was an Associate at Alston & Bird LLP in Washington, DC, where she counseled and represented clients across the health care industry on Medicare, Medicaid and Affordable Care Act policy and regulatory issues.
Keavney received her Bachelor of Science in Health Studies and her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University. She also worked for the university prior to and during law school, including program management and administrative roles in the School of Nursing & Health Studies and the Office of the University Counsel. She remains a dedicated Georgetown alumna, serving on the Alumni Association Board of Governors and in leadership roles for her graduating class and local alumni chapters in San Francisco and DC.
Keavney is a native of Washington, DC, where she recently returned after residing in the Bay Area for nearly six years.
