Dr. Richard Bakalar is Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at ViTel Net, where he advises the CEO and leadership team on strategy for solution design and clinical integration, and he assists clients on adopting telehealth services across health care setting enabled by the company’s collaboration platform and medical imaging cloud. He has over 35 years of clinical, telehealth, medical informatics, and health care executive leadership experience and was board certified in Internal Medicine and Nuclear medicine while serving in the U.S. Navy. Previously, he was a U.S. physician consultant in KPMG’s Global Health Care Center of Excellence and the Health Care Advisory practice leader for Virtual Care in the U.S. and internationally. There, he advised clients on connected care program design and evidence-based telehealth services adopted by medical providers, telecommunication companies, and retail health and medical devices companies. He also worked at Microsoft as a physician executive, responsible for provider communications and clinical use case development in the U.S. and Canada, and at IBM as a Chief Medical Officer on their health care solution team. He is a past president of the American Telemedicine Association, and formerly served in the medical corps of the U.S. Navy, working as the Navy Surgeon General’s first Special Assistant for Telemedicine.
