Nancy Gin, MD, FACP, is executive vice president of quality and chief quality officer for The Permanente Federation, which oversees clinical quality for nearly 23,000 physicians nationwide in 8 Kaiser Permanente regions caring for over 12.3 million members. She also serves as the medical director of quality and clinical analysis for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SCPMG), leading quality and patient safety for 4.4 million Kaiser Permanente members in Southern California.
Prior to these roles, Dr. Gin served as the medical director and chief of staff for Kaiser Permanente Orange County. She has more than 30 years of internal medicine expertise and leadership experience. She played an instrumental role in the development and opening of the Kaiser Permanente Orange County-Irvine Medical Center in 2008.
Dr. Gin joined SCPMG in 1997 following her tenure on the clinical faculty of the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine. She also served as director of Internal Medicine Education at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. She is board certified in internal medicine and is a member of the California Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.
She earned her bachelor of science and medical degrees from the University of Arizona, and completed her internship, residency, and fellowship in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Irvine.
Dr. Gin is a well-respected, compassionate clinician who has co-authored and published clinical papers and book chapters on topics including domestic violence, hypertension, and health policy in bioethics. She is an advocate for public service and a passionate educator, recognized with several awards for teaching and outstanding academic contributions, and was named the 2019 Physician of the Year by the Orange County Medical Association.
